Morgan’s Inclusion Initiative Board of Directors Adds Four New Members

Oct. 4, 2021SAN ANTONIO – Four San Antonio business leaders have joined the board of directors of Morgan’s Inclusion Initiative, which provides strategic guidance to Ultra-Accessible™, fully-inclusive Morgan’s Wonderland theme park and other ventures designed with individuals with special needs in mind and built for everyone’s enjoyment. 

They are Homer Bhullar, vice president of investor relations and finance for Valero Energy Corp.; Andy Hill, CEO of OrangeBox Investments; L. P. (Buddy) Morris, executive chairman of Spire Risk Management, LLC; and Mark W. Roenigk, head of hardware engineering for Facebook.  The four new members will collaborate with Gordon Hartman, board chair, and wife Maggie Hartman, vice chair and secretary.  The Hartmans’ daughter with special needs – Morgan, 28 – inspired them to create unique Morgan’s Wonderland and pursue other endeavors to benefit the special-needs community.

Bhullar, who joined Valero in 2014, has held key roles in corporate development and business development for the global energy company, and this year he was promoted to his current executive position in investor relations and finance.  Prior to Valero, he was an investment banker focused on the energy sector at J. P. Morgan and Citigroup.  While at J. P. Morgan, Bhullar was part of the advisory teams for the spinoff of CST Brands Inc., and the formation of Valero Energy Partners LP.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and an M.B.A. in investment management and energy finance from the University of Texas at Austin.  

Hill started his career in news-talk radio in San Antonio.  He attended the University of Utah where he became friends with his business partner, and later the two of them pursued property management.  Hill co-founded Spectrum Association Management in 2001 and built it into a successful company with locations In Texas and Arizona.  An entrepreneur at heart, he has helped launch and invest in various companies across a variety of industries.  Today, as CEO of OrangeBox Investments, he enjoys building and investing in companies “that foster engaging cultures, promote accountability and champion people being great at what they do.” 

After beginning his career in the health care industry, Morris launched Summit Insurance Group (SIG) in 1998.  It grew to be the largest health and welfare firm in San Antonio, with more than 300 clients and $125 million in annual premiums.  In 2009, he founded Morris Asset Management, Ltd., which is involved in venture capital and private equity investments in the real estate, energy, banking and health care industries, and in 2019, he created Spire Risk Management, LLC.  Morris graduated with a bachelor of arts degree from Texas A&M University, and he serves on various charitable, civic and business boards including Texas A&M’s Mays Business School, the Witte Museum and University Health System. 

Roenigk is responsible for building the infrastructure necessary to support Facebook’s mission to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer.  Prior to Facebook, he served as chief operations officer at Rackspace in San Antonio.  Roenigk started his career as an engineer at Compaq and later held senior leadership roles at Microsoft, Intuit, Sirius XM and eBay/PayPal.  A graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in management, he has been a strong supporter of charities dedicated to enriching the lives of children with disabilities.  He is a board member for Taelor’s House Foundation and supports the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association, Special Olympics and the Boys & Girls Club of America. 

Native San Antonian Gordon Hartman grew the company he founded at age 19 into the largest locally-owned homebuilding and land development enterprise.  In 2005, he sold it and pursued – along with wife Maggie – bold initiatives to help the special-needs community.  The Hartmans opened Ultra-Accessible™, fully-inclusive, non-profit Morgan’s Wonderland in 2010.  The tremendous success of the theme park spawned Morgan’s Inclusion Initiative, which coordinates planning, fundraising and communication among the entire Morgan’s Wonderland “family” that includes Morgan’s Inspiration Island splash park, Morgan’s Wonderland Sports complex, new Morgan’s Wonderland Camp and projects in progress such as the Multi-Assistance Center at Morgan’s Wonderland, or The MAC.   

Maggie Hartman, also a lifelong San Antonian, was employed in the mortgage business when she met Gordon.  They married in 1991, and after daughter Morgan’s birth, she became a stay-at-home mom to focus on Morgan’s care and well-being.  In 2013, Hartman was diagnosed with and successfully treated for breast cancer.  As a result of that experience, she became a staunch advocate for early detection and treatment.  In addition to being actively involved with Morgan’s Inclusion Initiative, she devotes her time and energy to an annual gala fundraiser and to many other organizations that assist those with special needs.

Ultra-Accessible™ refers to removing both physical and economic barriers that confront children and adults with special needs.  This means that those with and without special needs can come together in a fully-inclusive environment for fun and a better understanding of one another.
